HC Deb 24 April 1923 vol 163 cc284-5
85. Mr. JOHN MURRAY

asked the Postmaster-General if he will take steps to abate the emission of smoke from the General Post Office at Leeds?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

No complaints have been received on this subject since 1921, when certain remedial measures were adopted as a result of representations by the local medical officer of health. The question of closing down the present generating plant has been under consideration for some time, but it has not hitherto been possible to proceed, on account of the considerable expenditure entailed. The matter will be kept under review.
