HC Deb 23 April 1923 vol 163 c4
8. Sir JOHN HEWETT

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he has any further news to communicate regarding the murder of Mrs. Ellis at Kohat and the abduction of Miss Ellis?

Earl WINTERTON

I will read the latest telegram on this subject received this morning from the Government of India:— Miss Ellis is now in charge of Mrs. Starr and Risaldar Moghal Baz, somewhere near Kanki Bazar. Reported safe and well. Mrs. Starr's medical report is that Miss Ellis has not been injured or molested in any way. She is weak and her feet are bruised and bleeding, otherwise all is well. No details yet; negotiations doubtless proceeding. Will telegraph any further news immediately.
