asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has information as to the provisions of the Soviet Criminal Code regarding the punishment of the teaching of religious beliefs in State or private schools and establishments to children of tender years and minors?

Mr. McNEILL

Yes, Sir. Under Article 119 of the Soviet Criminal Code of 1st June, 1922, the teaching of religion to children and minors in State or private educational establishments and schools is punished with compulsory labour up to one year.

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can lay Papers giving reliable information on the subject of religious persecution in Russia?
