asked the Home Secretary if he is aware that permission is being sought to close the Ardwick Cementery, Manchester; and, if so, will he before giving that permission take steps to safeguard the rights of those people who own graves in that cemetery and who, having lived in the district all their lives, wish to be interred there when they die?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

This cemetery was closed by an Order in Council in 1893, but the Order permits 'burials in existing graves under certain conditions. I have received no representations with a view to the entire closing of the cemetery.
