HC Deb 17 April 1923 vol 162 c1858
30. Mr. F. GRAY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether the number of officers employed at the War Office has been reduced in accordance with the promise of reduction by the 1st of April, 1923, given on 5th December, 1922; and whether he can now inform the House of the basis of further reduction to reduce the officers so employed to at least a pre-War level?

Lieut.-Colonel GUINNESS

I regret that my estimate of 5th December last has not been entirely realised, but a reduction of 20 officers has been made since that date, and further reductions will be carried out as opportunity offers during the year.
