§ 28. Sir ROBERT HAMILTONasked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to the case of William Milne, of Kirkwall, who when called up for medical examination at Inverness in July, 1916, fell in a fit and cut his head and remained in camp without medical attention until the next day, when he was removed to hospital, where he died; whether he is aware that the sum of £4 18s. allowed to the father towards the expenses of the removal of the body and interment in Orkney amounted to less than a quarter of the cost; and whether, in view of the above circumstances and the poverty of the father, who is in receipt of an old age pension, he is prepared to pay the whole cost of the removal and interment of the body?
Mr. GYWNNEThe hon. Member will realise that after a. lapse of seven years it is very difficult to reopen a case of this kind, but I am inquiring into it, and will communicate with him in due course.
