HC Deb 12 April 1923 vol 162 c1280
28. Mr. SHORT

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware that voluntary workers of the Ministry in the provinces are still refused payment of travelling expenses incurred in visiting motherless children and making inquiries for his Department; whether it is proposed to employ paid staff in place of these voluntary workers and, if not, whether he will consent to reconsider the question with a view to retaining the services of experienced voluntary workers by reimbursing them in respect of all out-of-pocket expenses?

Major TRYON

I am glad to inform the hon. Member that arrangements have been made to defray reasonable travelling expenses necessarily incurred by voluntary workers in connection with work for the Ministry.
