HC Deb 30 November 1922 vol 159 c902
Mr. RAMSAY MacDONALD

Will the Prime Minister tell us what business he proposes to take next week?

The PRIME MINISTER

On Monday we shall take the Debate on the Address, and, after 11 o'clock, the Committee stage of the Trade Facilities and Loans Guarantee Financial Resolution.

On Tuesday we shall take the Lords Amendments to the Irish Bills, if any; the Debate on the Address, which I hope will be concluded, and, after 11 o'clock, the Report stage of the Trade Facilities and Loans Guarantee Financial Resolution.

On Wednesday we shall take the Safeguarding of Industries (No. 2) Order, 1922 (Gas Mantles); the Second Reading of the Trade Facilities and Loans Guarantee Bill; and the Second Reading of the Canadian Cattle Bill.

Lord ROBERT CECIL

When will the Austrian Bill be taken?

The PRIME MINISTER

It is included in the Trade Facilities Bill.

Captain W. BENN

Is it going to be the practice of this Government to take Money Resolutions after 11 o'clock, and why is it not possible to discuss them at a reasonable hour?

The PRIME MINISTER

No one knows better than my hon. and gallant Friend the necessity of time. The absolutely necessary programme will now keep us much later than was intended.

Mr. T. WILLIAMS

Would it not be better to deal with the financial business earlier and leave the Debate on the Address to the small hours of the morning?

The PRIME MINISTER

If I proposed to do that, I am afraid the Members of the Labour party would be the first to object.
