HC Deb 04 May 1922 vol 153 cc1548-9
42. Colonel Sir C. YATE

asked the Home Secretary what is the fee now levied for naturalisation; and how does this fee compare with the fees levied by other countries?

Mr. SHORTT

The fee payable in respect of the grant of a certificate of naturalisation to a woman who was a British subject previously to her marriage to an alien is five shillings. In all other cases the fee is £10. I am not in possession of information which would enable me to make the comparison suggested in the second part of the question.

Sir C YATE

Will the right hon. Gentleman obtain that information?

Mr. SHORTT

I am told by the Foreign Office that it would involve a great amount of labour.
