HC Deb 31 July 1922 vol 157 c998
63. Mr. HURD

asked the President of the Board of Education if, before the House rises for the Recess, he will indicate what further measures of economy in the administration of his Department he has in preparation for the current year?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Herbert Lewis)

My right hon. Friend is arranging to abolish three more administrative posts in the course of the next few months. The numbers of the Headquarters Staff will continue to be the subject of careful scrutiny, but he must remind the hon. Member that the School Teachers (Superannuation) Bill, 1922, if passed into law, will throw a considerable amount of additional work on the Board's staff.
