HC Deb 26 July 1922 vol 157 cc452-3
48. Captain W. BENN

asked the Prime Minister whether either of the two Committees at present investigating the relations of the three fighting Services has under its terms of reference any power to make recommendations affecting the Government's declaration that the unity and integrity of the Air Force is to be maintained?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The decision of the Cabinet was not referred to the Committees. The Committees have only to advise how the decisions of the Cabinet can be best carried out.

Captain BENN

The question Ts whether there is any doubt about the pledge given by the Government to maintain the integrity and unity of the Air Force.

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The Government decision was not referred to those Committees at all. They were asked to make recommendations on certain aspects of the question, with a view to carrying out the Government decision.
