Major HILLSasked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has any information to give this House about. the revolution in Paraguay; is he in communication with His Majesty's Consul-General at Asuncion and are that gentleman and his family safe; and has it been possible to take any steps for the safety of the British residents in Paraguay?
Mr. HARMSWORTHHis Majesty's Charge d'Affairs at Asuncion reported on 22nd July that damage to the railways was hindering the advance of the Government troops, but that the revolutionary troops were slowly retiring towards Villarrica. He considers that there is no present danger to the Legation or to local British subjects. He is unable to communicate with British subjects in the interior, but does not fear for their personal safety.
