HC Deb 24 July 1922 vol 157 c14
35. Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

asked the Prime Minister whether it is proposed to hold an international conference to deal with the Graeco-Turkish question and the Treaty of Sevres; and, if so, when and where?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Cecil Harmsworth)

Negotiations on this subject are still proceeding between His Majesty's Government and their Allies. I therefore regret that I can add nothing at present to previous statements on the subject.

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

Now that the hon. and gallant Member for the Wrekin (Sir C. Townshend) has, apparently, arrived at Angora, are we to understand that he is conducting political negotiations?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

No, Sir. I have no official information that the hon. and gallant Member has arrived at Angora.

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

Has he not left for Angora?
