HC Deb 24 July 1922 vol 157 c33
30. Colonel NEWMAN

asked the Prime Minister which are the Allied Powers who have so far refused to release their liens or: Austrian assets, and which are the Allied Powers that have done so; and is it the intention of the Government, in view of the grave financial outlook of Austria, to again approach the Powers mentioned in the first part of the question?

Sir R. HORNE

The Reparation Commission, which represents all the Allied Powers entitled to reparation from Austria, decided on the 21st instant to release for a period of 20 years the revenues from the Austrian forests, salt mines, Customs and State domains, for use as security for the proposed new Austrian Bank of Issue and agreed in principle to liberate the Customs revenues and the revenue from the tobacco monopoly for use as security for a foreign loan. The terms of this decision were published in the Press on the 22nd instant.
