HC Deb 19 July 1922 vol 156 cc2058-9
22. Mr. GILBERT

asked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the closing of the continuation schools in London, he has made any arrangements for the officers of the employment exchanges, who now attend these schools in order to provide employment for girls and boys leaving school, to continue their work for juvenile employment elsewhere; and can he make any statement on the subject?

Dr. MACNAMARA

These officers have been withdrawn from the schools at which the day continuation classes were held and are now employed at the exchanges, except in certain cases in which their employment has been terminated. The boys and girls concerned were invited to register at the exchanges, and many of them have done so.
