HC Deb 17 July 1922 vol 156 c1717
80. Sir R. BLAIR

asked the Minister of Health if power has been given to any Metropolitan board of guardians to pay relief above the London scale, provided the excess is paid for locally and does not fall on the Common Poor Fund?

Sir A. MOND

The Regulations prescribing the scale of relief chargeable to the Common Poor Fund did not deprive the London board of guardians of the power to exceed the scale, at the cost of the local rates, in cases of exceptional need. I am sending my hon. Friend a copy of the circular letter which fully explains the position.
