asked the Minister of Labour if he can state the numbers of unemployed in the domestic hollow-ware industry of this country at December last and also at June of this year?

Sir M. BARLOW

I am unable to give separate figures for domestic hardware. In the hardware and hollow-ware group of industries, which includes stoves, grates, bedsteads, tinplate goods, etc., the number registered as unemployed at Employment Exchanges in Great Britain at 22nd May, 1922. the latest date for which figures are available, was 18,391, compared with 22,269 at 30th December. 1921. In addition, at 22nd May, 1,551 were registered as working systematic short time, compared with 2,192 at 30th December, 1921.
