§ 17. Captain WEDGWOOD BENN
asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether Lord Shaw, in communicating the awards made by his Commission in connection with claims for injuries to property in Ireland, indicates to the British and Irish Governments, respectively, which is responsible for making good the damage done; how many such communications have been received to date; and what is the total amount awarded against the British and Irish Governments, respectively?
The answer to the first-part of the question is in the negative. The second and third parts do not, therefore, arise.
§ Captain BENN
Will there be any information laid before the House as to what the charges made by the British Government in connection with these awards may be?
I presume that before any charge fall payable on the authority of Parliament, it will be laid before Parliament.
