§ 11. Mr. FRANK GRAYasked the Under-Secretary of State for War the number of officers employed in England in discharge of military duties and not on the strength of any regimental unit; and the number so employed in July, 1914?
Lieut.-Colonel GUINNESSI am not in a position to give the figures for England separately, but the number of officers so employed in the United Kingdom in 1914 was approximately 1850, compared with some 1,980 at the present time. Owing to the withdrawal of troops from Ireland and other causes there will be a considerable decrease by the end of the present financial year.
