HC Deb 06 December 1922 vol 159 c1753
37. Mr. T. THOMSON

asked the Minister of Labour, as representing the Ministry of Health, what action the Government is prepared to take to remedy the present evils of overcrowding, in view of the failure of the late Government's housing schemes and. of the efforts of private enterprise to supply the houses needed to meet the shortage which has been in existence since the Armistice?

The Government have the whole question of housing policy under consideration, and I am not yet in a position to make a statement with regard to it.

Will the right hon. Gentleman say whether the Government will make some announcement on this question before the House rises?

I will ask my right hon. Friend whether that is possible. The whole question is under consideration at the present time.

Is the hon. and gallant Gentleman aware that this question has been under consideration for the last 50 years?
