HC Deb 03 August 1922 vol 157 c1674
70. Sir WALTER de FRECE

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the denunciation, at the recent meeting of the Royal Sanitary institute at Bournemouth, of the spray form of disinfectant; whether this view is held by his sanitary advisers, and whether the views of his advisers, whatever they are, are available for public guidance on this point?

The MINISTER of HEALTH (Sir Alfred Mond)

My attention has been called to Press reports of the statement referred to. The opinion of my advisers on the point is expressed in the Memorandum on Prevention of Influenza, issued by the Local Government Board in 1919, of which I will send my hon. Friend a copy, and which states that the practice of spraying halls and places of public resort with a disinfectant fluid is of doubtful utility, and only tends to create a false sense of security.
