HC Deb 03 August 1922 vol 157 cc1675-6
75. Mr. MARDY JONES

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to a resolution passed at a recent conference held at Pontypridd, in connection with the Housing and Town Planning Council, asking that building to meet the housing needs of the area be put into operation with a view to meet the housing needs and to relieve the unemployment in the district: and does he propose to take any action in the matter?

Sir A. MOND

I am au are of the resolution to which the hon. Member refers. Of the houses which have already been authorised in this locality, nearly one-half are not yet completed, and in the circumstances I am of opinion that the local authorities concerned should concentrate on the completion or the houses in hand.

Mr. JONES

Is it a tact that 2,200 houses were authorised and only 200 have been constructed?

Sir A. MOND

Still more astonishing, they have not yet completed the 200.
