HC Deb 03 August 1922 vol 157 cc1651-2
13. Mr. STEWART

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Committee for considering the question of the education of Chinese have handed in their Report; whether it will be published as a Parliamentary Paper; and whether he can give now the gist of these recommendations?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Cecil Harmsworth)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The question of publication will be considered, and meanwhile I think it undesirable to give the gist of the recommendations until the question, which is now under consideration, of the attitude to be adopted towards the resumption of the Boxer Indemnity payments due next December has been decided by His Majesty's Government and the other Powers concerned.
