Mr. TREVELYAN THOMSONasked the Minister of Labour whether he will invite the Committee, which he recently appointed to make inquiries with a view to devising means whereby the innocent victims of a trade dispute shall not lose their unemployment benefit, to issue their Report in time for amending legislation to be passed in the Autumn Session?
§ The MINISTER of LABOUR (Dr. Macnamara)I feel sure the Committee will make their report at the earliest possible date. In any event, I cannot, at this stage, undertake to introduce legislation on this subject in the Autumn Session.
Mr. THOMSONDoes the right hon. Gentleman mean that if the Report of the Committee be in favour of this being done, he will not be able to act upon that Report before next year?
