Colonel MILD MAYasked the Minister of Agriculture whether his attention has been called to the resolution extensively circulated by the Fly Fishers' Club, protesting against the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Bill on the ground that it legalises pollution; and whether he contemplates moving such an Amendment to the Bill during the Report stage as will allay the fear to which the resolution gives expression?
Sir A. BOSCAWENThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. I have since received a copy of a Resolution passed at a special meeting of the general committee of the Fly Fishers' Club repudiating the former Resolution which I understand to have been irregularly passed by a few members of the club who were misinformed as to the exact provisions of the Bill. I am not aware of any provision of the Bill which would legalise pollution, and, so far as this aspect of the matter is concerned, I have no Amendment to suggest.
