§ 29. Major KELLEYasked the Prime Minister if he will be prepared at an early date to make a statement as to what effect the decision of the American Government not to join the League of Nations will have on that League?
§ The LORD PRESIDENT of the COUNCIL (Mr. Balfour)The hon. Gentleman asks the Government to find an early opportunity for making a forecast of the effects on the League of Nations of the decision of the United States of America to abstain from becoming one of its members. This is plainly a matter of prophecy and conjecture, and hardly, therefore, seems a fitting subject for a Government pronouncement.
