HC Deb 26 May 1921 vol 142 cc302-3
27. Sir WILLIAM BARTON

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been drawn to a manifesto signed by the leading bankers of the country, as bankers, condemning the policy indicated in the Financial Resolutions of the forthcoming Bill for the Safeguarding of Industries; and whether, in view of this reasoned judgment by the financial experts of the nation, he will drop the proposed Bill until at least the whole policy has been placed before the country either by referendum or a General Election?

The PRIME MINISTER

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, and to the second part in the negative.
