HC Deb 15 June 1921 vol 143 cc395-6
29. Lieut.-Colonel HURST

asked the Minister of Labour why the warehousing operations performed by firms whose work consists solely in importing mineral waters prepared abroad have been excluded from the scope of the Aerated Waters Trade Board; whether he realizes the disadvantages thereby sustained by British mineral water firms; whether any representations have been made to him on this point by this trade board; and what action he will take in this matter?

Dr. MACNAMARA

The operations to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers have never been included within the scope of the Aerated Waters Trade Board, since the scope of that Board is confined to the manufacture of aerated waters and certain operations incidental to such manufacture. Representations have been made by the Trade Board to the effect that the scope of the Board should be amended so as to cover, not only manufacturers, but also importers. The amendment of the scope of the Trade Board is at present under consideration, and I shall certainly give careful attention to the Trade Board's suggestions.
