HC Deb 26 October 1920 vol 133 c1531
26. Sir B. FALLE

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that the duties of soldiers in Ireland are now such as to make heavy calls on their uniforms; and if he is prepared to grant batta or allowance for the same?

Sir A. WILLIAMSON

The question of issuing an extra grant to troops in Ireland, where it is shown that the usual allowance granted for the upkeep of a soldier's clothing is insufficient, is being considered.

Mr. WATERSON

Will the right hon. Gentleman consider the advisability of providing them with fireproof garments, owing to the policy of the Government on reprisals?
