HC Deb 06 May 1920 vol 128 c2203
3. Mr. R. YOUNG

asked the Minister of Pensions if E. Williams, gunner, Royal Field Artillery, No. 21,973, 31st Division, was granted a pension on 9th September, 1919; that no part of the pension has been paid; that his ring-paper has been recalled without any explanation having been given; whether he is to be paid a 20 per cent. pension; and, if so, when will payment be made and from what date is it due?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I greatly regret the difficulty which Mr. Williams has experienced in obtaining payment of his pension. Payment of a 30 per cent. pension has now been authorised, and arrears will be paid from 19th September, 1919, to the present time, except for two periods of six and seven weeks respectively during which Mr. Williams was paid treatment allowances in lieu of pension by his local committee.

Mr. BILLING

Is it proposed to allow these men any interest on the money owing to them and which has not been paid in some cases for eighteen months, through no fault of the men?
