§ 6. Mr. SITCHasked the Minister of Pensions whether Private Frederick Henry Hoy, No. 18,703, 20th Middlesex Regiment, was discharged from the Army in 1916, being awarded 100 per cent. disability pension, and died on 6th October, 1919; whether his widow has been informed by the Ministry of Pensions that his death was neither caused nor hastened by active service and has, in consequence, received only 13s. 9d. per week pension, with no allowance for her five children; and whether, if the answer to the above is in the affirmative, he will agree that further inquiries should be made into this case?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONPrivate Hoy was discharged for gunshot wound in the head in December, 1916. He contracted tuberculosis in May, 1918, and died from pulmonary tuberculosis and meningitis in October, 1919. As the disease from which he died was not contracted or commenced while on active service, nor aggravated by such service, his widow is not entitled to a pension under Article 11 of the Royal Warrant. Mrs. Hoy has been informed that she may appeal against this decision to the Pension Appeal Tribunal.
