HC Deb 06 May 1920 vol 128 cc2205-6
9. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Chief Secretary whether inquiries have been held or will be held into the circumstances of the recent encounters between military forces and civilians in Dublin, Milltown Malbay, Limerick, Arklow, and elsewhere, resulting in loss of life; and whether the findings will be laid before Parliament?

Mr HENRY

Coroners' inquests have been held in connection with losses of life which occurred at the places named in the verdicts. The Arklow, Dublin, and Limerick cases have been published in the Press, and the inquest in Milltown Malbay has not concluded. Military courts of inquiry have been held in these cases, and it is not proposed to publish their findings.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

May I ask if this House cannot be put in possession of the findings in these cases in which crowds were fired at, and the circumstances which led up to them?

Mr. HENRY

That being a military matter, I would ask the hon. Gentleman to address it to the War Office.
