HC Deb 03 May 1920 vol 128 c1690
64. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions if he is aware of the great delay in settling outstanding accounts of the Ministry in many cases; and whether any steps are being taken to remedy this state of affairs.

Mr. HOPE

I am not aware of any undue delay in settling outstanding accounts, but, if the hon. and gallant Member will furnish me with particulars of any individual cases in which there may appear to have been unnecessary delay, I will have them investigated. I may add that in December last a Departmental Committee was constituted by the Minister with the consent of the Treasury for the express purpose of expediting settlements with contractors. This Committee has sat almost daily since its inception, and has achieved very valuable results.
