§ Sir A. WILLIAMSONThe number of officers who were anxious to be released from military service on the 1st February was 1,972. Later returns are not yet available. These officers are retained because their services are required for the Armies of Occupation, etc., but they are being released as quickly as they can be spared or Regular and Volunteer officers are available to take their places.
