asked the Minister of Food whether the allowance of sugar for sweetened condensed milk is based on advice that this is a suitable form in which milk can be used for the feeding of infants?

Mr. PARKER

No, Sir. That is contrary to the view which, I understand, my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health to take. The answer given by the Food Controller to a question by the hon. Member for South Poplar (Sir Alfred Yeo) on this subject, on 17th March, was intended to indicate that a demand does, in fact, exist for sweetened condensed milk for the feeding of infants—not to suggest that it is suitable for that purpose.
