HC Deb 29 March 1920 vol 127 c885
79. Major EDWARDS

asked the Minister of Labour whether full allowances are payable to disabled men awaiting training; and, if not, whether he will consider the Amendment of the Regulations with a view to granting these men, during the time they are awaiting their training, the full allowances given during training?

Mr. PARKER

As was stated on the 3rd December last in answer to a similar question by the hon. and gallant Member for East Bradford, a disabled man awaiting training is not entitled to receive the training allowance. He is, however, entitled to claim out-of-work donation in addition to his disability pension if unable to obtain employment. I may perhaps take this opportunity of stating that His Majesty's Government have proposed further to extend the Out-of-work-Donation Scheme after March 31st by permitting ex-members of the Forces whose right to donation has expired to apply for a further grant of donation payable during the period ending 31st July for a maximum of 12 weeks at a rate of 20s. per week. A similar extension will also be made in the case of Merchant Seamen.
