HC Deb 29 March 1920 vol 127 c855
18. Major MACKENZIE WOOD

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the Government has entered into any contract with the British-American Nickel Corporation to take the whole or any part of the nickel produced by the corporation; if so, what are the terms of the contract; and what is the price to be paid for the nickel supplied under the contract?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The agreements with the British-American Nickel Corporation provide that for a period of years His Majesty's Government have the right to call for the delivery of a specified quantity of nickel at a fixed price, and the corporation is entitled to require the Government to take delivery of specified quantities at the current market price.

Mr. HOLMES

Is it not a fact that although the Government have a contract for nickel, they have never been able to obtain any?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I should like to have notice of that.
