§ 49. Mr. ALEXANDER SHAWasked the Prime Minister what is to be the method of selection of the three delegates from the United Kingdom to the Assembly of the League of Nations?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWThe selection of the British Representatives on the Assembly of the League of Nations will be in the hands of his Majesty's Government.
§ Mr. SHAWWill the right hon. Gentleman consider the possibility of the selection of at least one of these delegates being made by this House?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWI cannot see that it would be desirable to have an appointment of that kind made in that way. The Government must be responsible.
§ Mr. A. WILLIAMSWill the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind the promise made to me by the Prime Minister some two months ago that he would consider mak- 241 ing these appointments in such a way that one at least of the three represented the minorities in this House?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWThat is quite a different thing. I am sure that that consideration will be taken into account.
