HC Deb 22 March 1920 vol 127 cc43-4
77. Sir HARRY BRITTAIN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether it is still necessary for a British subject to obtain a passport for the purpose of visiting the Channel Islands, and, if so, will he state the reason?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Shortt)

My hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. It is still necessary for passengers to the Channel Islands to carry passports, but I hope that my consultations with the authorities of the Islands, which are not yet quite concluded, will enable this requirement to be removed very soon.
