asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland how many arrests have been made in Ireland during the month of January in the years 1914 and 1920, respectively?

Mr. MACPHERSON

The number of arrests made in Ireland during the month of January, 1914, was 3,222, and during the same month in 1920, was 1,955.

Mr. DEVLIN

How many of these men were put on trial?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I have not been asked that question.
