§ 80. Major Earl WINTERTONasked the Secretary of State for War whether the pay and allowances to married officers of the British Army in India correspond, allowing for the difference in the cost of living, to the increased pay and allowances given to married officers of the British Army serving in Home stations?
§ Mr. FISHERThe present rates of pay for officers of the British Army in India, which are provisional only, are the same for single and for married officers. But the Government of India have undertaken to consider the question of giving different rates to married and single officers when a permanent scale of pay is fixed.
§ Earl W1NTERTONWill the right hon. Gentleman answer the point in the question as to whether the pay and allowances to married officers correspond to the increased pay and allowances to married officers serving in this country?
§ Mr. FISHERI rather think they do, but I will look into it.
§ Earl WINTERTONThat is the point of my question.
