HC Deb 04 March 1920 vol 126 c607
13. Mr. DONALD

asked whether it is the intention of the Government to introduce a short Bill applying the provisions of the Public Libraries Act, 1919, to Ireland?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I was not aware that there was any general demand for the extension of this Act to Ireland. If, however, there is a general desire, I am quite prepared to consider a limited extension of the existing rating power.

Sir M. DOCKRELL

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that some Irish Libraries find it impossible to carry on owing to the rate limitation?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I am not aware of that, but I am quite willing to consider any representations.
