Mr. DOYLEasked the Minister of Health if his attention has been called to the Report of the National Service Medical Boards regarding the defective physique of great numbers of men who were examined for military service; what action he proposes to take to improve the health and physique of the nation; and, seeing that the shortage of proper housing accommodation is one of the most serious contributing causes, what progress has been made during the last three months to deal with such shortage?
§ Dr. ADDISONYes, Sir; but it is quite impossible to set out within the limits of a Reply to a Parliamentary question that very large variety of ways in which the causes and the treatment of disease are being dealt with. In reply to the concluding paragraph of the Question, I may say that the number of houses for which the acceptance of tenders has been approved has increased during the last three months from about twelve thousand to about sixty thousand.
