94. Mr. RAPER

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Shipping Controller if he will state what steps have been taken by his Department to overcome the difficulty of securing granite kerb from Guernsey and with what result?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the SHIPPING CONTROLLER (Colonel Leslie Wilson)

The Shipping Controller has been able to arrange for suitable steamers to load stone from Guernsey in accordance with the requirements of the Roads Department of the Ministry of Transport. Up to the present moment steamers aggregating something over 6,000 tons have been utilised for this purpose.
