§ 62. Mr. JESSONasked the Minister of Health if he has received a communication from the Walthamstow Urban District Council, and other public bodies, protesting against the inaction of his Department in failing to deal with the continual increases in the cost of building materials, which add considerably to the cost of building and materially retards the progress of the erection of houses for the working classes; and if he can state what action, if any, he has taken, or proposes to take, in this matter?
§ Dr. ADDISONI have received a number of resolutions of this character. They are founded on a misapprehension. I take any action that is possible for me in this matter. Some time ago my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade ordered an investigation into the whole question by a Committee appointed under the Profiteering Act. The enquiries of that Committee are not yet completed.
