Mr. HANCOCKasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he has received a petition from the parents of those girls whose training for the Civil Service examinations is rendered useless by the suspension of this year's examination and the alteration of age limits for the future; and whether, in view of the hardship entailed upon them, any temporary adjustment can be made, such as has previously occurred when alterations in the examinations have taken place?
§ Mr. BALDWINThe question is under consideration whether any provision can be made towards meeting the case of candidates adversely affected by the alteration of age limits; but I can give no undertaking as to the decision.
