HC Deb 17 June 1920 vol 130 cc1439-40
82. Major ENTWISTLE

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that, at the Hull fish dock on 27th May, 219 kits of fresh fish were consigned to the manure works, and on 28th May, 71 kits were similarly disposed of; and if, in view of these figures, will he immediately recommend more transport facilities?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

The Food Controller has received a Report to the effect that 296 kits of fresh fish were disposed of to manure works at Hull on the 28th ultimo. The fish in question were small fish which merchants had declined to purchase, so that the question of transport does not appear to arise in this case. The question of improving the present system of transporting fish is, I know, receiving the constant and sympathetic attention of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport.
