HC Deb 17 June 1920 vol 130 c1457
Mr. CLYNES

May I ask the Leader of the House what is the business which will be taken next week?

Mr. BONAR LAW

Monday—The Rent Restrictions Bill, Report and Third reading;

Tuesday—The Government of Ireland Bill;

Wednesday—Army Votes;

Thursday—The Ministry of Transport Vote.

Captain W. BENN

Can the right hon. Gentleman say approximately when the Scottish Estimates will be taken?

Mr. BONAR LAW

That depends on when we are asked.

Sir D. MACLEAN

In view of the importance of the Rent Restrictions Bill, does not the right hon. Gentleman think one day for Report and Third Beading is very short allowance?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The right hon. Gentleman knows there is a limit of time within which the Bill must be passed. I hope Monday will be sufficient.

Captain BENN

If Monday be insufficient, will the right hon. Gentleman consider giving Tuesday as well?

Mr. BONAR LAW

That is a hypothetical question which we may leave to be answered when Monday comes.

Mr. BOTTOMLEY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when the Committee stage of the Finance Bill will be taken, if ever?

Mr. BONAR LAW

It will not be taken next week. We must get through other measures with which we are now dealing. It cannot be taken for the next ten days.
