SANDERS (Lord of the Treasury)In reply to a similar question in the Indian Legislative Council on the 8th March, it was stated that "the Government of India consider that as land revenue is a provincial subject, the necessary legislation must be undertaken by the local legislatures. They are in communication with the Secretary of State, and propose to address Local Governments on the subject before long"
