HC Deb 14 June 1920 vol 130 c875
30. Mr. A. HERBERT

asked the Prime Minister whether Sir Basil Zakharoff, K.C.B., was consulted with regard to the Turkish Treaty?

The PRIME MINISTER

The answer is in the negative.

75. Mr. A. WILLIAMS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the French in Cilicia have concluded a treaty or agreement with the followers of Mustapha Kemal; and, if so, what are the terms of that agreement, and, in particular, what provisions does it contain for the protection of the Christian inhabitants?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I understand that an armistice has been concluded between the French and Nationalist forces for a short period, but I have no information as to its provisions except that it is expected to ensure the safety of the Armenians.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Is there any means of protecting the Armenian people in those parts which the French are evacuating?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

My hon. Friend is quite as good a judge of that as I am. I cannot give him any information.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Will the hon. Gentleman make inquiries from the French Government?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I will consider that question.
